Guest DJs for 2011...
It was always going to be a tough one to beat after the sell out success of Annie Nightingale on New Year’s Eve, but if starting the New Year like that was a taste of things to come then things could only get bigger and better again! We mixed things up on Saturdays at Saxtys – bringing you lots of local DJ favourites such as Gary Newman, Guy Davies, Andrew Mawdsley, Rob Sidwell and Jordan Prew amongst others plus more of our celebrity DJ guests.... Well known favourites such as Marc Vedo and K-klass made return visits (and we always look forward to welcoming them back) and new for Saxtys in January 2011 was the E4 Skins Party - a major event for us, with DJs Nicola Bear from Ibiza Rocks and Radio 1’s Kissy Sellout! The year culminated in the return of Marc Vedo once more, bringing with him his Koolwaters Brand 365 International tour party - a first for Hereford!

New Year’s Eve Koolwaters 365 Tour Party with Marc Vedo
Once again Marc took time out from his Globehopping international DJ schedule to bring us a fully branded New Year’s Eve Koolwaters extravaganza. Marc's DJ profile goes from strength to strength. Having garnered a musical presence and maturity that can rival many of the worl'd leading names, it has actually been the past few years which has borne witness to the bulf of his career's bigges milestones. This together with his past achievements puts him in a position as arguably one of the scene's most impressive international DJ talents and creatively consistent young producers. His diary in recent times has seen him appear at many of the world's leading super venues whilst also being a regular feature for the world's finest events in Cream, The Gallery, God's Kitchen, Gatecrasher, Elle Style Awards party 2011 and Amsterdam Dance Event. His bursting repetoire of clubs has led to festival appearances for the likes of Glastonbury, Global Gathering & Homelands - to name a few. As a producer, Marc has found similar success with his studio output and claiming wide reaching support for his productions over the past 24 months. Many of his recent productions, such as "Only Love", "Get it Out", "String Circus" and "Liquid Spirit" have picked up support in DJs as wide reaching as Tiësto, Erick Morillo, James Zabiela, Axwell and Roger Sanchez whilst radio support has included Radio 1 veterans Pete Tong, Judge Jules and Annie Nightingale.

Graeme Park: 15 years on the radio, 25 years on the decks, One Night in Saxtys
The story of DJ Graeme Park really mirrors the story of the evolution of dance music and club culture itself, Graeme found himself working in a Nottingham record shop called Selectadisc in the early 1980s, when the very first house records began to filter through from Chicago, Detroit and New York. When the shop’s owner also opened a nightclub, it was only natural he should turn to Graeme to select the discs. Determined to showcase this new style of music, his reputation as a house pioneer soon brought him to the attention of Mike Pickering at the Haçienda in Manchester, who asked him to cover for him whilst he went on holiday in 1988. Simply put, there was no-one else in the country who could do the job. The Summer of Love followed, and Parky quickly became one of the biggest names on the emerging dance scene. Aside from his eight-year residency at The Haçienda, he was the first British DJ to play places like Australia, South America, the USA, Asia and beyond as well as producing and remixing tracks for the dancefloor. He was there before it all started, he was at the forefront of the dance scene when it was at its zenith and he’s still there, still rocking it, years later- longer than some of the people on the dancefloor have been on the planet! And the best thing is he still loves it, still loves the music and still loves to play it for people to dance to...

Alex P
DJ, party man(iac), legend. One of the ‘old school’ of DJs, there during the early days of house music, he has become somewhat of an elder statesman of the scene – been most places, done most things, just about survived to tell the tale. Early gigs came at the almighty Sunrise raves in the U.K., some of the notorious, infamous raves that attracted major press headlines at the end of the 80s. After playing to thousands at such an early point in his career, the next point for a young DJ at that time was Ibiza, a place that helped shape the reputation of Alex in several ways. After holding a residency at Amnesia, he then became the resident at the newly opened Space. After working there for a few months, a moment of inspiration changed the clubbing world. Alex decided to put some decks behind the bar of the Space chill-out area and to call it ‘The Full Moon Terrace Bar’. You know the rest from there. Alex began to get worldwide bookings, and soon became one of the headliners for most of the major house nights in and around the U.K. He is still to be found DJing all over the world, recent gigs including Dubai, Tokyo, Singapore, Las Vegas, and Koh Samui.

Rob Tissera
Rob Tissera is one of dance music's most prolific stars. A top-selling producer and versatile DJ that still loves Dance Music like it’s his first night out and whose technical brilliance and effervescent sets have seen him pack out parties across the globe, Tissera's experience and ability to thrill audiences playing any genre is something only a handful of DJs can match. Famed for his hi-energy hard trance and hard house sets, he's also rocked audiences playing dirty funk, uplifting house or big room trance. He has an exhaustive CV of international bookings that has seen him conquer clubs across the globe yet despite all his success Rob remains one of the most approachable and friendly DJ’s on the scene. He can always be found mixing with the clubbers who have come to see him play, rather than propping up the bar in the VIP Area! Rob is quite simply a 21st Century DJ that can take any crowd and any club and rock it right through to its foundations!

Kissy Sell Out @ the E4 Skins Party January 2011
Normally strictly over 21s, for one night only Saxtys opened the doors to the new generation of over 18s for the E4 Skins Party and what a night it was! We welcomed to the decks for the first time ever Misfit Essex boy and superstar rock'n'rave DJ of the new generation, Kissy Sell Out. Kissy quickly gained notability in 2006 for his eccentric electro productions and energetic DJ style, building his career on furiously complex remixes of All Saints, Mark Ronson, Sugababes, Chromeo and The Human League amongst others. In 2009 Mixmag described him as "one of the most exciting, charismatic and entertaining DJs of the decade. Whilst not in the studio or touring the world he hosts a weekly show on Thursday nights midnight - 2am on BBC Radio 1.
